Depending on where you are, papagayo can mean two very different things. In much of the world, it is a parrot—colorful, curious, and born to fly. In Venezuela, it is a handmade kite, carrying memories of barefoot hills, open skies, friendship, and hope.
We loved that one word could hold both.
Venezuela is more than where our story begins; it is a feeling we carry with us. It lives in mountains beside the sea, golden deserts, endless waterfalls, blooming araguaneyes, guacamayas painting the sky, childhood adventures, and the warmth of always finding your way home.
That spirit became PAPAGAYO.
Like a kite, every story begins with someone building it and giving it the first push.
We create the world. We give it the first push. You hold the string.

How PAPAGAYO Was Born
Our Roots
We are Venezuelan. We come from a country of extraordinary beauty, but its greatest treasure has always been its people— joyful, generous, resilient, and deeply connected to family. No matter how far life carries us, Venezuela remains part of who we are and the heart of where this journey began.
The Beginning
For years, we carried the dream of creating something meaningful— something that could open new worlds for children and encourage them to dream boldly. We simply did not know what shape that dream would take yet.
Years That Shaped us
As camp counselors, we spent years creating adventures, stories, and imaginary worlds for children. We watched them become braver, more curious, and more confident when they were given the freedom to explore.
June 24th, 2026
On June 24, two powerful earthquakes struck northern Venezuela, devastating communities and leaving thousands of children and families facing loss, displacement, and uncertainty. Watching our home endure so much pain made the dream we had carried for years feel more urgent than ever.
PAPAGAYO Takes Flight
We decided it was time to act. PAPAGAYO was born from the belief that stories can carry hope- even through the most uncertain moments. We began with a story rooted in Venezuela, created to help young dreamers feel brave, loved, and less alone, while finding a meaningful way to give back to the children and families rebuilding there.
For the remainder of 2026, 50% of the profit from every copy of “Beyond the Moving Mountain” sold is donated to We Love Foundation and Hogar Bambi in support of children & families affected
by the 2026 Venezuela earthquakes.
What We Carry Into Every Story
We believe stories should take children somewhere-through unfamiliar places, unexpected problems, and paths they may not have chosen for themselves.
